Ron Laboray Studio — Venice Biennale 2026 / Nauru Pavilion
Presenting an immersive environment including two large scale drawings and Little Richard’s Almanac’s continuous program of animated works within the Nauru Pavilion at the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
The Work
Ron Laboray’s large-scale paintings and LRA’s continuous animation operate together to form single environment - Disappearance as Perceptual Inquiry - as part of the Nauru Pavilion's inaugural exhibition.
In Laboray’s paintings, cultural references — music, symbols, and color systems — are fragmented and reorganized into dense visual fields.
LRA’s animations extend this into time and sound, translating audio into moving image through collaboration with musicians, together forming an immersive perceptual field.
Ron Laboray
Ron Laboray is an established artist with a multi-decade exhibition history. His work investigates symbolic systems, perception, and visual language.
This installation extends his practice into a hybrid field of painting and time-based media. Familiar cultural references — music, symbols, and color systems — are fragmented and reassembled, inviting viewers into a space of recognition, confusion, and reinterpretation.
Little Richard's Almanac
Little Richard’s Almanac co-founded by Niki Elliott and Ron Laboray creates 2D collage style animated works in collaboration with experimental and independent musical artists.
The videos are exhibited in art spaces and also screened at film festivals internationally, in addition to being streamed and distributed by the musicians and their labels.
